The end of an era – a statement from Lewis Moody, Founder of Mad Dog Sport C.I.C

It is with great sadness that we announce after 10 wonderful years, the closure of Mad Dog Sport C.I.C at the end of this academic year.

From the very beginning, running summer courses at Bradford on Avon RFC to running full time rugby programmes at Melksham Oak School, Royal Wootton Bassett Academy & Park House School, the impact of which engaged and enriched the lives of countless young individuals; is something that will always be cherished, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported our mission.

While our journey may have come to an end, we know that the memories and positive influence we created will continue to inspire and shape the young men and women who became ‘Mad Dog’s’, for years to come.

As we navigate the decision to close down our company, we would like to express our deepest gratitude and thanks to all the coaches, schools, partners and parents who have been a part of our journey. Your unwavering support, dedication, and belief in our vision, has been invaluable to us and those we aimed to impact.

To the multiple brilliant coaches who passed on their knowledge & excellence – your tireless efforts and passion for the game of rugby have shaped the skills and character of hundreds of young athletes. Your mentorship and guidance have not only instilled a love for the sport but also fostered important values such as teamwork, discipline, and resilience. And whether still in rugby or not, we are so proud to have been a small part in your journey and take huge pride in seeing where your pathways are taking you. Thank you.

To the schools – you provided us with the platform to reach and engage young individuals. Your partnership and commitment to youth development allowed us to create meaningful experiences, encouraging personal growth and building a sense of community among each and every squad. We hope Mad Dog will live on in some way across all schools.

To the parents – your trust and support were fundamental and empowered us to provide a safe and nurturing environment where your sons and daughters could thrive, learn, and develop valuable life skills beyond the rugby field. We hope the experience has been positive for you and that your child goes on to excel in whatever they choose.

To our sponsors and partners, thank you for your time and investment in Mad Dog Sport. Through your partnerships, we were able to provide resources, opportunities, and experiences that enriched the development of countless young men and women. Although our company may be closing its doors, the impact we made together will endure.

To every ‘Mad Dog’, throughout your time with us, you have embodied the values of teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. You have embraced challenges, overcome obstacles, and celebrated victories, both big and small. Your unwavering spirit and determination have set you apart, and we have no doubt that you will carry these qualities with you as you embark on your future journeys.

We encourage you to hold on to the lessons you have learnt through rugby. Embrace the power of teamwork, for it is through collaboration that we achieve greatness. Embrace discipline and dedication, for they are the foundations of personal growth and achievement. Embrace resilience, for it will allow you to navigate life’s challenges with strength and grace.

We have seen your potential, witnessed your growth and each of you has the ability to create ripples of positive change in the world around you. Whether you choose to pursue rugby at higher levels, apply the skills you’ve acquired in other sports or areas of life, or become leaders in your communities, we believe that you have the power to make a difference. We are immensely proud of each and every one of you. Thank you for being a part of our rugby programmes.

The memories, friendships, and lessons learnt will forever be cherished. We are immensely grateful for the opportunities we had to work with such remarkable individuals.

Creating and sustaining Mad Dog Sport for the last 10 years has meant the world to us, and we will forever hold a special place in our hearts for everyone that has played a role in enriching the lives of the students we aimed to empower and we hope that being part of Mad Dog Sport will continue to resonate in their lives for years to come.

Let’s enjoy these last few weeks!

Thank you,

Lewis Moody
